Job Description
DNV is seeking a qualified FACTS Engineer Intern to join the Technical Services team in the global HVDC and FACTS unit, based in Johannesburg, South Africa. This 6-month internship is part of DNV’s FlexGrid-HV initiative in South Africa and offers hands-on experience in FACTS and reactive power compensation technologies.
Key Responsibilities
The internship focuses on three main areas:
- Project Management Support: Assist project managers and FACTS engineers in planning, organising, and executing FACTS projects. Activities include system studies, design reviews, technical documentation preparation, progress monitoring, risk identification, and coordination of project meetings.
- Bid Management Support: Support bid preparation for reactive power compensation services involving FACTS devices like STATCOMs. Tasks include market research, bid documentation development, cross-functional collaboration, bid tracking, and analysis of outcomes to enhance bidding processes.
- Technical Consulting Support: Contribute to feasibility studies, technical data analysis, optimisation of FACTS technologies, preparation of reports and presentations, financial modelling, and participation in client meetings. Support continuous improvement of consulting methodologies.
The position reports to the FlexGrid-HV FACTS Team Lead and involves supporting technical teams and bid managers globally. Exceptional performance and market conditions may lead to permanent employment opportunities.
