Signa Opportunity is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design, develop, and maintain machinery and equipment that enhance production efficiency, improve product quality, and minimize downtime. This role is vital in increasing productivity, enhancing product reliability, reducing operational costs, and supporting sustainable manufacturing practices.

By optimizing manufacturing processes, the Mechanical Engineer will help Signa Opportunity meet customer demands, maintain a competitive edge, and achieve its business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working with conveyor belts and bearings
  • Managing pressure pipes and vacuum systems
  • Handling drive and driven gears
  • Maintaining roller barrels and roller ground equipment
  • Performing maintenance tasks such as changing oil and lubricating metal parts or moving gears
  • Maintaining filters, including air filters
  • Maintaining transmission chains

Requirements

Qualifications and Skills

  • South African unemployed youth aged between 18 and 34
  • Must not have previously participated in the YES programme
  • Diploma or degree in mechanical engineering or a related field
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems, thermodynamics, and materials science
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities
  • Ability to develop and test mechanical systems
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations
