Training and Development Programs
The City is committed to reducing unemployment among the youth by implementing various training and development programs. These programs are designed to equip participants with the necessary skills and experience to thrive in different industry sectors.
Work Integrated Learning (WIL) – Fixed Term Contract
Overview: The Work Integrated Learning (WIL) program combines academic learning with practical workplace experience, essential for obtaining formal qualifications. This in-service training includes clearly defined learning outcomes.
Requirements: Applicants must possess a National Certificate – N6 (WIL/In-service Training), a letter from their educational institution requesting WIL, and academic transcripts.
Graduate Internship Programme (GIP) – Fixed Term Contract
Overview: The Graduate Internship Programme offers recent graduates from Institutions of Higher Learning (Universities/Universities of Technology) the opportunity to gain valuable work experience within the City of Cape Town.
Requirements: Applicants must have completed a 3-year Diploma, National Diploma, Advanced Diploma, B-tech, Degree, Honours, Masters, or PhD.
Learnerships – 12 to 24 Months
Overview: Our Learnerships provide vocational education and training, linking structured learning with practical work experience to obtain a registered qualification on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF).
Requirements: Applicants must have a Grade 12 certificate. Additional requirements may vary depending on the specific learnership.
Skills Programme – Fixed Term Contract
Overview: The Skills Programme offers practical exposure and structured experiential learning opportunities to enhance candidates’ skills.
Requirements: Applicants must have a Grade 10/11/National Senior Certificate (Grade 12/Matric) and N1 – N5 / Level 2 -4 qualifications.
