Nedbank External Bursary 2025

Supporting academically deserving students with proven financial need to take their first steps toward achieving their dreams and obtain their first Undergraduate or Honours degree.

At Nedbank, we believe in using our financial expertise to do good by helping young leaders pursue their academic dreams. The Nedbank External Bursary Programme aims to fund academically deserving students who do not have the financial means to study full-time towards a first Undergraduate or Honours qualification at a South African public University or University of Technology.

Programme Goals:

  • Address Scarce-Skills Shortages: Focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM), and Green Economy skills.
  • Promote Green Economy: Enhance economic, environmental, and social well-being by reducing carbon emissions, increasing energy efficiency, and advancing natural capital.

Selection Criteria:

  1. Citizenship: Only South African citizens are eligible.
  2. Financial Need: Determined by household income.
  3. Academic Performance:
    • Minimum average of 65% in the current year (Grade 12 or university).
    • Minimum average of 65% in subjects aligned to the intended degree.
  4. Mathematics Requirement: Mathematics Literacy is not considered.
  5. University Admission: Must have obtained admission to a South African public university or university of technology for the intended qualification.

Supporting Documents for Application:

  1. Certified Copy of South African Identity Document.
  2. Most Recent Academic Transcript:
    • Grade 11 final and mid-year results if in Grade 12.
    • Grade 12 final and mid-year results if in first year at university.
    • Last academic year results and current mid-year results if at university.
  3. Financial Checks Affidavit: Signed by parents/guardians and the applicant.
