Job Description: SANParks CATHSSETA Internship Programme at Groenkloof National Park

Location: Groenkloof National Park (Head Office), Pretoria

Salary: Monthly stipend ranging depending on qualification (NQF Level)

Hashtag Nonprofit NPC, in collaboration with South African National Parks (SANParks) and the South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI), invites applications from qualified South African graduates for a 12-month internship programme based at Groenkloof National Park.

This structured internship offers graduates with National Diplomas, Bachelor’s, or Honours Degrees (NQF Levels 6, 7, or 8) from accredited South African public Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) the opportunity to gain practical experience at SANParks and SANBI. The monthly stipend will vary according to the intern’s qualification level. Note that SANParks is under no obligation to offer permanent employment upon completion of the programme.

Key Responsibilities and Placement Opportunities

  • Internships are offered across multiple divisions including Learning and Development, Performance Management, Occupational Health and Safety, Labour Relations, Human Capital Management, and Biodiversity Special Projects.
  • Selected interns will contribute to key departmental tasks supporting SANParks and SANBI objectives in environmental management and human resources functions.
  • The programme provides hands-on experience to build professional capabilities aligned with public service and conservation sector standards.

Qualifications and Requirements

Eligibility Criteria

  • South African citizens who are unemployed graduates aged between ***** years.
  • Completed National Diploma, Bachelor’s Degree, or Honours Degree (NQF 6/7/8) from recognized South African public HEIs.
  • No prior employment or participation in any public sector internship or placement programme.
  • Willingness to work at Groenkloof National Park and other specified sites; applicants opting outside their residential area must arrange their own accommodation and transport as stipend may be limited. SANParks may offer accommodation depending on availability.
