Department of Employment and Labour Internship Programme 2024

The South African Department of Employment and Labour is committed to regulating the labour market while promoting employment, social protection, and sound labour relations. Through their internship programme, the Department aims to reduce unemployment, poverty, and inequality by providing practical workplace experience to unemployed South African graduates.

About the Internship Programme

This 24-month internship programme is designed specifically for unemployed South African graduates who meet the following criteria:

  • South African citizens
  • Have never participated in any previous internship
  • Meet the qualification requirements for each listed post

Priority is given to youth, persons with disabilities, and applicants from previously disadvantaged groups, aligning with the Department’s Employment Equity Plan.

Application Information

  • Applications must be submitted through the SAYouth.mobi platform by searching for Project 20K
  • Applications submitted via the old Z83 form will not be considered
  • Shortlisted candidates will be required to submit certified copies of their ID, matric certificate, and academic transcripts
  • Applicants applying outside their home province must arrange their own accommodation and transportation
  • If no communication is received within 8 weeks after the closing date, consider the application unsuccessful
