Rio Tinto: Artisan Learnership Programme 2025

Artisan Learnerships are structured, occupationally directed programmes that lead to qualifications registered on the National Qualifications Framework, specifically trade-related qualifications.

The Accredited Learnership Programme encompasses Knowledge, Practical, and Work-based Learning components. A trade is defined as a job that necessitates an artisan qualification, and an artisan is officially certified to perform a specific trade under applicable law and legislation.

The following Learnership opportunities are available for applicants interested in pursuing a career in the following trades:

  • Diesel Mechanic
  • Boilermaker
  • Millwright

Requirements:

  • South African citizen (targeted at unemployed Youth)
  • Successfully completed:
  1. Grade 12 with Mathematics (Core Mathematics) and Physical Science
  2. Or Technical Matric (Trade related theory)
  3. Or Grade 12 with N3 Mathematics and N3 Engineering Science
  • South African Driver’s License is advantageous
  • Must NOT be registered on an active Learnership or Apprenticeship funded by a SETA or privately

  • Copy of South African Identity document
  • Copy of South African Driver’s License (if applicable)
