Quality Control / Laboratory Analyst Role at Diversey South Africa

The Quality Control / Laboratory Analyst at Diversey South Africa plays a vital role in ensuring operational excellence through executing Quality Control (QC), Quality Management Systems (QMS), and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) activities. This position supports ongoing Skills Development initiatives within the department and contributes to maintaining ISO 9001 compliance. The role also involves mentoring and developing interns and learners in alignment with SETA and Skills Development requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Management Systems (QMS)

  • Conduct investigations into customer complaints and non-conformances
  • Support and participate in internal and external audits
  • Maintain retention sample registers and stability records
  • Perform factory and warehouse inspections and report findings
  • Maintain and control quality documentation in line with ISO 9001 standards

Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)

  • Ensure laboratory equipment calibration and compliance
  • Prepare, standardize, and manage laboratory reagents and consumables
  • Enforce laboratory housekeeping, safety, and GLP requirements
  • Review, verify, and approve laboratory test results

Quality Control Duties

  • Perform and review testing of raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products
  • Monitor analysis priorities and ensure timely material release
  • Approve raw material and finished product releases
  • Manage rejected materials, quarantining, and rework trials
  • Execute non-routine analysis including effluent and process water testing
  • Calculate and advise on batch adjustments
  • Investigate and report out-of-specification results

Experience and Qualifications

  • Minimum Matric with Mathematics and Science (NQF Level 4)
  • Diploma in Chemical or Analytical Chemistry (NQF Level 6) preferred
  • Knowledge of chemical production processes
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel
