FPEF Graduate Placement Program – Post-Harvest & Quality Management Internship (1 Year)
The Fresh Produce Exporters Forum (FPEF) is committed to transforming the fresh fruit export industry in South Africa. The FPEF Graduate Placement Program offers high-caliber graduates the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in junior commercial, logistics, and technical roles focused on post-harvest quality management at leading South African fruit export companies.
This one-year internship is designed to integrate talented black individuals (as defined by B-BBEE codes) into the commercial and operational sectors of the industry, providing a stepping stone to long-term career opportunities in international fruit trade and marketing.
Intern Responsibilities
- Analyze fruit quality reports received from overseas clients.
- Capture and manage data on the system.
- Identify root causes of quality issues and assess the validity of claims.
- Communicate with clients to clarify and challenge claims.
- Liaise with growers to explain claims and resolutions.
- Perform routine administrative tasks in an office setting.
Intern Requirements
- Degree: BSc in Horticulture, Plant Pathology, Food Science, or related field.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills.
- High level of computer literacy; ability to learn stock management systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
- Proficiency in Afrikaans is advantageous but not essential.
- Collaborative teamwork and leadership abilities.
- Ambitious, self-motivated, and results-driven.
- Ability to solve problems effectively under pressure.
- Integrity, sound ethics, and high professional standards.
- Applicants must be South African BEE citizens and under 30 years old.
