Job Description

Mediclinic Morningside, located in Morningside, Johannesburg, South Africa, is seeking an Intern Pharmacist. This position is a fixed-term role with a closing date for applications on 19/10/2025. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a comprehensive and cost-effective pharmaceutical service to in-hospital patients and the public.

Main Purpose of Job

The primary aim of this role is to assist in delivering professional pharmaceutical services, ensuring the availability of medicines and scheduled substances.

Key Responsibility Areas

  • Ensure the availability of medicines and scheduled substances to stores and the public.
  • Ensure accurate dispensing of medications.
  • Maintain efficient stock holding of medicines and scheduled substances.

  • Essential Education: B Pharm
  • Desired Education: None

Required Experience

  • Essential Minimum Experience: None
  • Desired Experience: None

Required Job Skills and Knowledge

  • Current relevant legislation (e.g., Medicines and Related Substances Control Act)
  • Financial management skills
  • Good pharmacy practices
  • Knowledge of Medical Aid Scheme benefits, regulations, and formularies
  • Clinical pharmacy and antimicrobial stewardship
  • Proficiency in pharmacy systems (e.g., UNISOLVE; AS400)
  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Office)
  • Ethical product knowledge
