Job Description

Biovac, a leading sterile vaccine manufacturer in Africa, is seeking a dynamic and meticulous Production Pharmacist Intern for a fixed-term contract of 12 months. Our core purpose is to “protect life,” and we are looking for passionate individuals to join our goal-oriented team.

Purpose of the Role

• Assist the Production Pharmacist in ensuring that operational activities and facilities comply with the legal requirements outlined by the SA Pharmacy Act 53 of 1974 and the Medicines and Related Substances Control Act, No 101 of 1965.
• Gain exposure to industrial operations, equipping participants with essential knowledge, skills, and experience while adhering to continuous personal development (CPDs) and industry standards.

Qualifications Needed

• Bachelor of Pharmacy Degree

Key Duties & Responsibilities of the Role

• Assist the production pharmacist in achieving manufacturing processes that align with legal requirements, including but not limited to:
• Independently checking and signing each dispensed material and its mass or volume.
• Checking and signing the addition of each material to the mix.
• Checking and signing the identity of the bulk product and printed packaging material.
• Ensuring that each packaging line or station is clear of previous products and that equipment is clean and suitable for use before any packaging is undertaken.
• Performing other critical activities as defined by the Responsible Pharmacist and relevant Quality Assurance and Department Manager.
• Compounding, manipulating, preparing, or packaging any medicine or scheduled substance or supervising such activities.
• Manufacturing any medicine or scheduled substance or supervising such activities.
• Managing the purchasing, acquiring, importing, keeping, possessing, using, releasing, storage, packaging, repackaging, supplying, or selling of any medicine or scheduled substance or supervising such activities.
