ICT Intern (CP) Position at NCR TVET College

The Northern Cape Rural TVET College (NCR TVET College) is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates for the ICT Intern (CP) position. This full-time, temporary 12-month internship is designed to provide practical workplace experience while supporting the stability and performance of the College’s ICT infrastructure.

  • Location: Central Office, Upington, Northern Cape, South Africa
  • Duration: 12 months (Full-time Temporary)
  • Annual Salary: R120 000.00 per annum (excluding benefits)

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support across hardware, software, and network environments to ensure IT system reliability
  • Assist with installation, configuration, and upgrading of ICT equipment
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues
  • Support system updates, patches, virus protection, and monitor security threats
  • Maintain IT documentation, logs, and assist with reporting
  • Provide network monitoring, backups, and system stability support
  • Participate in IT projects such as system migrations
  • Ensure ICT equipment functionality and assist with inventory management

Minimum Requirements

  • Fully certified CompTIA A+ or equivalent
  • Fully certified CompTIA Network+ or equivalent
  • Fully certified CompTIA Security+ or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team

Added Advantages and Recommendations

  • Knowledge of LANs, WANs, and Wi-Fi technologies
  • Understanding IT security principles, including firewalls and antivirus software
  • Experience with server administration (Windows Server, Active Directory)
  • Familiarity with database management and data backup procedures
  • Knowledge of ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) principles
  • An additional NQF Level 6 ICT qualification is advantageous
