Job Description

Mogale City Local Municipality, in partnership with the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE), invites unemployed youth graduates to apply for the EPWP Youth Graduate Work Opportunities Programme 2026. This initiative offers 55 posts for young graduates seeking short-term work opportunities and practical experience in environmental and municipal services.

Minimum Entry Requirements

  • Matric plus 3 years of tertiary qualification (M+3) in one of the following fields:
    • Environment
    • Biodiversity Conservation
    • Forestry
    • Air Quality
    • Landscaping & Horticulture
    • By-law Enforcement
    • Environmental Health
  • Be between 18 and 35 years of age
  • South African citizenship
  • Preference to graduates residing in Mogale City jurisdiction
  • Strong encouragement for people with disabilities to apply

Available Positions and Key Responsibilities

  • Education & Awareness (3 Posts): Develop and implement environmental education programs, create educational materials, promote sustainable practices, and monitor program effectiveness.
  • Climate Change (3 Posts): Implement climate change initiatives and programmes.
  • Environmental Compliance Promotion (3 Posts): Conduct field investigations, collect data, enforce regulations, and promote sustainability.
  • Landscaping (3 Posts): Develop landscaping plans, urban greening strategies, and assist in designing public spaces.
  • Nature Conservation (1 Post): Identify and control workplace hazards, perform data collection and biodiversity assessments.
  • Urban Green / Horticulture (4 Posts): Participate in tree planting, community gardening, and beautification projects.
  • By-law Enforcement (9 Posts): Profile illegal dumping hotspots, conduct inspections, support recycling efforts, and prepare enforcement notices.
  • Environmental Health (3 Posts): Analyze illegal dumping, develop waste management databases, SOPs, and assess revenue streams.
  • Administration (2 Posts): Provide office and records management, clerical support, budgeting assistance, and support project coordination.
