Digby Wells Environmental, located in Bryanston, Gauteng, is seeking a young, passionate, and dynamic Mine Closure Intern to join their team. This position offers a unique opportunity for a graduate interested in sustainable mining and environmental management to gain hands-on experience in mine closure projects with a leading environmental consultancy.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in developing mine closure strategies, plans, policies, and procedures.
- Conduct gap analyses of clients’ mine closure strategies and prepare detailed reports on findings.
- Support the team in providing advice and guidance to clients regarding the implementation of mine closure plans.
- Assist with project administration on closure-related projects, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of mine closure project plans to guide decommissioning and rehabilitation activities.
- Assist in calculating mine closure costs that meet regulatory requirements and support cost management during construction and operational phases.
- Participate in audits and reviews of mine closure plans and closure liability assessments.
- Evaluate and monitor mine closure plans throughout different stages of the mine life cycle.
- Contribute to the development of alternative mine closure measures to mitigate environmental impacts.
- Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Support business development and marketing initiatives within the mine closure team.
