Internship Programme Overview
The IOM Internship Programme is designed to attract talented students and recent graduates who have a strong interest or academic background in areas relevant to IOM’s programmes and activities. The programme offers hands-on exposure to real-world migration issues and operational experience within an international organization.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be between 20 and 36 years old.
- Applicants should have less than two years of relevant working experience.
- Interns must be enrolled in the final academic year of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, or have graduated within the last 12 months.
- Applicants may hold scholarships for internship placements or require internships to complete their studies.
- Applicants sponsored by governmental, non-governmental institutions, or academia with alignment to IOM and sponsor objectives are also eligible.

Human Resources Internship: Background Information
Under the direct supervision of the Sub-Regional Human Resources Officer, the Human Resources Intern will gain valuable hands-on experience in HR operations at the IOM South Africa Sub-Regional Office. This internship focuses on building practical skills in recruitment, onboarding, personnel administration, and staff support, while deepening understanding of human resources processes within an international setting.
