Job Description: Intern – GPS Success Coaches at University of the Free State

The University of the Free State (UFS) invites applications for the position of Intern: GPS Success Coaches on a 1-year contract basis. This role is based at the Bloemfontein Campus under the Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Academic within the Centre for Teaching and Learning. Seven positions are available to support the Graduation Positioning Support (GPS) initiative aimed at enhancing student success through coaching and personalized support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle inbound and outbound calls, messages, and emails through the GPS@UFS communication channels to provide relevant student support.
  • Assist the GPS@UFS: Track Your Success project team with student support initiatives such as tracking and communication.
  • Compile and capture advising and student interaction data on databases including evaluations, attendance registers, and case management systems.
  • Distribute and collect data documentation related to student tracking and support initiatives, including qualitative and quantitative research.
  • Contribute to the research, conceptualization, and refinement of student support services and resources.
  • Deliver individual advising and tutoring support presentations and sessions.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development aligned with GPS coaching deliverables.

  • Salary: R9,497.50 per month
