Job Description

Internship Job Profile at Construction Education & Training Authority (CETA)

Interns at CETA will be exposed to a variety of functional tasks designed to provide practical experience within entry-level roles. Key responsibilities include:

  • Performing all functionary tasks for the unit at entry level.
  • Handling correspondence and enquiries, maintaining the unit’s records and files.
  • Providing administrative support for coordinating the unit’s budgeting processes.
  • Assisting with information gathering in preparation for audits.
  • Collating data and preparing monthly and quarterly reports for the unit.
  • Performing functions as delegated by supervisors and managers.
  • Preparing meeting agendas and taking minutes.
  • Assisting in the preparation of at least one presentation per quarter, or as required.

The internship typically spans less than a quarter timeline and includes rotational planning, allowing interns to gain exposure to different tasks across various divisions within a specific department. Intern progress is formally reviewed at least at the end of each quarter.

Core Competencies

During the internship at CETA, interns are expected to develop the following competencies:

  • Understanding of CETA as a corporate and public entity, as well as the overall SETA landscape, including its purpose and mandate.
  • Possession of relevant theoretical knowledge and understanding related to the specific functional area, department, or unit to which they are assigned.
  • Basic knowledge of applicable regulatory laws, frameworks, and policies such as the Skills Development Act, SDLA, Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), Tax laws, BBBEE, Employment Equity, and Affirmative Action.
