**Job Description**
Bowmans Law Firm is seeking a dedicated External Communications Intern to assist the senior brand and communications manager in executing the firm’s marketing and communications strategy. This role focuses on enhancing the firm’s external communications, particularly in the realm of digital communication.
**Experience and Qualifications:**
– Degree or Diploma in Marketing, Communications, or Journalism
– Experience in a professional services environment
– Excellent verbal and written communication skills
**Key Activities**
**Project Management & Advisory**
– Clarify, establish, and agree on expectations and deadlines for the firm’s external communication activities.
**Writing, Editing, Proofing/ Reviewing and Production**
– Create engaging content for various channels and audiences, ensuring the clarity of key messages and accessibility of legal concepts.
– Edit texts for publication across different platforms, ensuring adherence to the firm’s writing style guide and grammatical accuracy.
– Proofread and review all marketing and external communication materials for accuracy prior to publication, including guides, brochures, and infographics.
**Client Newsflashes and Publications**
– Edit, format, obtain approval, distribute, and file newsflashes.
– Ensure all newsflashes and newsletters are published on relevant digital channels, including the website and social media.
**Public Relations**
– Support the external PR consultant by providing necessary resources, such as spokesperson photographs, and liaising with internal stakeholders.
**Awards**
– Assist in communicating the firm’s achievements.
– Update internal records and marketing materials accordingly.
**Directory Profiles**
– Regularly update directory profiles and maximize associated marketing opportunities.
**Website Management**
– Publish and update website content, including articles, announcements, and lawyer profiles.
**Social Media Management**
– Plan and compile content for the firm’s social media platforms.
– Respond to inquiries via social media channels.
**Special Projects**
– Assist with the implementation of special projects as needed.
**Administration & Reporting**
– Support general operational and administrative tasks within the communications team.
– Contribute to the monthly communications report.
– Maintain and update essential documents, including boilerplate, milestone, website quote, and lawyer profile documents.
– Order printed and online business cards as needed.
– Serve as a backup for distributing external marketing collateral and processing invoices.
**Relationship Building**
– Foster strong working relationships within the Business Development Department and Bowmans employees as a trusted communications resource.
– Develop and maintain relationships with vendors.
