Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the SHE Coordinator in planning, implementing, and overseeing employee safety programs.
  • Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) guidelines to reduce work-related injuries.
  • Support the delivery of safety training to employees and contractors.
  • Advise employees on safety-related topics and enforce adherence to safety rules and regulations.
  • Review and update existing safety programs, standards, procedures, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Assist with onboarding processes focusing on safety.
  • Coordinate with integrated health services for timely medical examinations and follow-ups.
  • Perform risk assessments and identify safety bottlenecks, proposing effective solutions.
  • Assist in conducting audits, assessments, root cause investigations, and verification of corrective actions.
  • Perform additional safety duties as assigned by the line manager.

Stakeholder Collaboration

As an EHS Intern, you will report directly to the SHE Coordinator and collaborate closely with department leaders, co-workers, and other key stakeholders to uphold safety standards.

Requirements

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of one year of relevant safety experience.
  • Completion of SAMTRAC-NOSA course.
  • Minimum Grade 12/Matric qualification.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles like 5S and Continuous Improvement is advantageous.
