Job Description

De Beers Group’s Global Shared Services (GSS) is a vital function supporting Anglo American and De Beers by delivering Finance and People Services across Business Units and Group Functions. The division focuses on three strategic pillars: customers, colleagues, and communities, emphasizing proactive stakeholder engagement, communication, and change management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure delivery of bank reconciliations and general accounting activities for Anglo American business units in EMEA.
  • Support the General Accounting Supervisor in providing timely, accurate, and complete financial information.
  • Manage month-end close activities and prepare bank reconciliations.
  • Investigate and resolve reconciling items, ensuring none are older than 30 days.
  • Report on financial discrepancies and overdue items promptly.
  • Process relevant general ledger transactions monthly, with attention to overdue items and disclosures.
  • Respond timely to stakeholder queries and ensure accurate allocation and clearing of bank transactions.
  • Update and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) documentation.
  • Assist in preparing KPI reports and follow up on audit requests.
  • Ensure adherence to controls and execute general accounting journals and reconciliations as assigned.
  • Perform testing for new projects and environmental changes.
  • Demonstrate compliance with Health, Safety & Environment standards and company values.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and operate cost-effectively within set limits.
  • Work within established policies, processes, and systems, reporting any performance impediments.

Qualifications

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting (Advanced Diploma or Degree, NQF level 7).
  • 1 – 2 years relevant accounting experience.
  • Proficiency in SAP Finance, Ellipse, SAP HR, and Microsoft Office.
  • Fluent business English communication skills.
