Job Description
Signa Opportunity is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to design, develop, and maintain machinery and equipment that ensures efficient production processes, improves product quality, and reduces downtime. This role is pivotal in increasing productivity, enhancing product reliability, reducing costs, and supporting sustainable manufacturing practices. By optimizing operations, the Mechanical Engineer will contribute significantly to meeting customer demands, maintaining competitiveness, and achieving company objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain conveyor belts and bearings
- Manage pressure pipes and vacuum systems
- Handle drive and driven gears
- Maintain roller barrels and roller grounds
- Perform maintenance tasks such as oil changes and lubricating metal parts or moving gears
- Maintain and replace air filters
- Maintain transmission chains
Requirements
Qualifications and Experience
- South African unemployed youth aged between 18 and 34
- Must not have previously participated in the YES programme
- Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, thermodynamics, and materials science
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Good communication and teamwork abilities
- Ability to develop and test mechanical systems
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations
