Legal Intern Position at Philips – Johannesburg, South Africa

Philips is seeking a Legal Intern to join the Legal Department at their Woodmead office in Johannesburg starting 01 June 2026. This 12-month internship offers an opportunity to support legal and regulatory activities, contributing to Philips’ mission to provide quality healthcare.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft legal documents including contracts, addenda, complaints, client communications, official correspondence, and pleadings across commercial, consumer, tender, and administrative law matters.
  • Conduct legal research comprising case law analysis and monitoring updates in relevant regulations and legislation.
  • Support business case analysis in civil, commercial, and administrative law contexts.
  • Manage and update contract archives and contract registration systems both online and offline.
  • Assist in developing internal training materials focused on privacy and healthcare compliance.
  • Provide assistance on general corporate legal matters.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Tenders, Service, Consumer, Tax, Finance, and HR on internal legal requests.

Requirements

Qualifications & Skills

  • Graduate from 2024 to 2026 with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Law, Legal Studies, or related field.
  • South African graduate who has completed all required modules/credits with a minimum average of 60%.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Previous legal experience is advantageous but not required.
