Entry Level Health Safety Administrator Guide

Job Description

Talent and Skills Development Academy (PTY) LTD is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented EHS&S Administrator to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and maintaining Environmental, Health, Safety & Sustainability (EHS&S) programmes, ensuring compliance with internal standards and local regulations, and fostering a safe, sustainable, and engaged work environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • EHS Workplan and Program Reviews: Develop and implement action plans aligned with EHS workplan and programme reviews; conduct inspections to identify hazards and manage corrective action plans; capture findings and actions on the Curve system.
  • Risk Assessment: Ensure annual risk assessment reviews are completed by department managers; provide employee training based on risk profiles.
  • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): Conduct annual SOP reviews; assign training per department and update the training register.
  • Emergency Response Team (ERT): Schedule bi-monthly ERT meetings and coordinate training sessions; collect and consolidate monthly ERT inspection reports and document gaps on Curve.
  • Good Saves Program (Near Misses): Consolidate good saves reports from all teams; work with Facilities/Sodexo to ensure timely closure of actions.
  • Waste Management: Ensure proper segregation of waste according to local regulations; record waste volumes, maintain inventory, and coordinate destruction with vendors.
  • EHS Metrics Reports: Collect monthly EHS Metrics reports from DC managers, consolidate, and record on Curve.
  • Sustainability: Maintain a calendar for local sustainability activities in line with global schedules; monitor recycling programmes, document volumes, and manage reconciliation of recycled waste.
  • Safe Fleet: Maintain Safe Fleet employee lists, communications calendar, and training matrix; coordinate training dates and follow up on employee compliance.

Desired Experience & Qualifications

  • Completed qualification in Health and Safety or Environmental Management.
  • 6–12 months of relevant work experience in EHS&S.
  • Strong understanding of health, safety, environmental, and sustainability standards.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, follow up on actions, and work with diverse teams.
