Job Description

The Construction Education & Training Authority (CETA) offers a comprehensive internship program designed to provide hands-on experience across various administrative and operational functions. Interns will be exposed to a range of tasks aimed at developing practical skills and industry knowledge within a structured work environment.

  • Perform entry-level functional tasks within the assigned unit.
  • Handle correspondence and enquiries, maintaining accurate records and files for the unit.
  • Provide administrative support in coordinating the unit’s budgeting processes.
  • Assist with information gathering necessary for audit preparation.
  • Support data collection and preparation of monthly and quarterly unit reports.
  • Complete delegated tasks assigned by unit supervisors and managers.
  • Prepare meeting agendas and accurately record minutes during meetings.
  • Assist in the preparation of at least one presentation per quarter or as required.
  • Participate in rotational planning, ensuring exposure to various departmental tasks within a structured timeline.
  • Undergo formal progress reviews at the end of each quarter to evaluate development.

Core Competencies

During the internship, participants are expected to develop the following competencies:

  • Comprehensive understanding of CETA as a corporate and public entity within the Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA) landscape, including its purpose and mandate.
  • Relevant theoretical knowledge relating to the functional area, department, or unit where the intern is placed.
  • Basic knowledge of applicable regulatory laws, frameworks, acts, guidelines, and policies such as the Skills Development Act, SDLA, PFMA, Tax Laws, BBBEE, Employment Equity, and Affirmative Action.
