Job Description: Geographic Information System Intern at Sappi

Sappi offers a one-year internship opportunity for recent graduates with a degree in Geoinformatics, Environmental Science, or Geography, majoring in GIS. This internship provides real-world experience in delivering solutions for spatial data requirements within Sappi’s Forestry division. Interns will receive mentorship and support from experienced professionals dedicated to guiding their development throughout the program.

Key Responsibilities

• Investigate, analyse, and provide solutions for spatial data requirements.
• Assist in maintaining spatial data and performing various spatial analyses.
• Provide support to Sappi business units addressing spatial queries.
• Complete basic remote sensing analytics.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Degree in Geoinformatics, Geography, or equivalent with GIS as a major subject.
• No prior experience required.
• Proficient in MS Office suite including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
