Job Description

Mediclinic Upington is seeking a dedicated Pharmacist Intern to join our team in Upington, South Africa. This is a fixed-term on-site position aimed at providing a comprehensive, professional, and cost-effective pharmaceutical service to in-hospital patients and the public. Main Purpose of Job

The primary goal of this role is to assist in delivering a high-quality pharmaceutical service, ensuring that patients receive the necessary medications and support.

Key Responsibility Areas

  • Ensure the availability of medicines and scheduled substances to stores and the public.
  • Ensure accurate dispensing of medications.
  • Maintain efficient stock holding of medicines and scheduled substances.

  • Essential Education: B Pharm
  • Desired Education: None

Required Experience

  • Essential Minimum Experience: None
  • Desired Experience: None

Required Job Skills and Knowledge

  • Current relevant legislation (e.g., Medicines and Related Substances Control Act).
  • Financial management skills.
  • Good pharmacy practices.
  • Knowledge of Medical Aid Scheme benefits, regulations, and formularies.
  • Understanding of clinical pharmacy and antimicrobial stewardship.
  • Familiarity with pharmacy systems (e.g., UNISOLVE; AS400).
  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Office).
  • Ethical product knowledge.
