What You Will Learn and Do
This learnership program serves as a comprehensive introduction to the world of pharmacy. It brings learners up to speed with the fundamental principles of dispensary support services within a retail pharmacy environment. As a learner, you not only gain theoretical insights but also practical skills through on-the-job training under the supervision of experienced pharmacists. Once you successfully complete the program and gain registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as a learner pharmacist assistant, full-time roles become accessible.
Key Responsibilities:
– Manage and execute the sale of Schedule 1 medicines and substances.
– Engage in the preparation and compounding of non-sterile medicines following prescribed procedures.
– Offer assistance across various dispensary tasks including medication packing, labeling, and accuracy checking by a pharmacist.
– Contribute to inventory control, ensuring medications are well-organized and within their expiry dates.
– Support customer service tasks, handle prescriptions over calls, and assist with authorization of medication required for chronic treatment.
– Report stock discrepancies and replenish dispensary inventory as per standard protocols.
