Gauteng Department of Infrastructure Development: 2025 Work Experience Opportunities

The Gauteng Department of Infrastructure Development, through its Expanded Public Works Programme, is offering 2,500 work experience opportunities for unemployed youth in Gauteng Province for the 2025-2027 financial years. These placements are part of the National Youth Service Programme (NYS), aimed at empowering young individuals with valuable work experience and skills.

Benefits for Successful Candidates

  • Monthly stipend of R3,500
  • Fixed contract period of 24 months
  • Exposure to various professional environments

Note: Contracts are non-extendable beyond the 24-month period.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Age between 18 to 33 years (must remain below 35 throughout the contract period)
  • Completed Grade 11 or higher (relevant qualifications required for Technical Trades and Administration positions)
  • Possession of a valid South African Identity Document
  • Availability to commit to the entire duration of the programme and willingness to sign a contract
  • Residency in one of the five designated corridors (regions) of Gauteng Province
  1. City of Johannesburg
  2. City of Tshwane
  3. City of Ekurhuleni
  4. Sedibeng District
  5. West Rand District
  • Applicants must live near the project site for easy accessibility
  • No criminal record
  • Previous participants of the NYS Programme are not eligible
